THE POSITION: The Coordinator I – Peer Leadership promotes the adoption, development, and implementation of mental health focused peer leadership programs at LACOE Community Schools. The position will support the establishment and/or enhancement of behavioral health peer-to-peer programming and workforce development pathways in schools by collaborating with community, county, Local Education Agency (LEA), and LACOE partners, identifying, creating, and supporting the expansion of effective peer-to-peer models, conducting school site needs assessments and providing ongoing consultation, training and support to participating students and staff under the supervision of the Director III, Community Schools Initiative.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: EXPERIENCE: Must be eligible to provide clinical supervision to Associate Clinical Social Workers and/or Associate Marriage and Family Therapists per the California Board of Behavioral Sciences rules and regulations. This includes: • Having been licensed in California as a mental health professional or any other state for at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years prior to the commencement of supervision, AND • Have practiced psychotherapy during at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years prior to the commencement of employment OR have provided direct supervision to Associate Clinical Social Workers, Associate Professional Clinical Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapist Trainees, or Associate Marriage and Family Therapists who perform psychotherapy during at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years prior to the commencement of employment. A minimum of two years working in K-12 education providing mental health services to children, youth, and families is desired. EDUCATION (required): A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Professional Clinical Counseling from an accredited institution of higher learning. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (All applicants must attach credential with document number to their application. Please do not attach the certificate copy of your Credential. See below for step-by-step instructions.): Possess and maintain as valid each of the below: • California Administrative Credential (preferred). • Pupil Personnel Services Credential in Social Work or School Counseling (required). • Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Professional Clinical Counselor issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Licenses must have been obtained a minimum of two years prior to beginning employment (required).
