POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time Public Information Officer position in our Innovation and Instructional Support Department. The Public Information Officer, under administrative direction, plans, develops, and implements a comprehensive public information and communications program in strategic alignment with District vision and mission; develops and maintains effective media, social media, websites, community, and public relations; manages marketing and internal/external outreach strategies; coordinates special events; and manages crisis response and emergency management communications. This career opportunity is an exempt management 8 hours/day, 12 months/year position with paid holidays, sick leave, vacation, and a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will have experience advising an executive leadership team, working with emergency management, using social media and video production to tell an organization’s story, crafting press releases and marketing in a large organization. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of the Fullerton School District, our community, and our local media network, with a passion for the integral role our School District plays in the Fullerton Community. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the applicant is likely to possess the required knowledge, skill and ability to perform the job duties. RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The recruitment process may consist of the following: an application and supplemental question response evaluation and structured oral interview with a scenario evaluation and writing skills assessments. The first round of interviews and assessments are anticipated to be in early February with a second round of interviews for successful candidates with our Executive Cabinet to follow.
