Under general direction, designs, implements, and maintains LACOE and its clients’ local, wireless, and wide-area networks (LAN/WLAN/WANs) and provides lead direction to engineering and technical staff.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education: An associate’s degree or equivalent number of college units (60 semester units or 90 quarter units) including at least 15 semester units in computer science, information technology, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Experience: Four years of experience troubleshooting, configuring, testing and maintaining networks OR two years as a LACOE Network Engineer. Equivalency Provision: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation may substitute for one year of the required general experience. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Additional Requirements: Completion of a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, Juniper Junos, Associate (JNCIA-Junos) certification, Fortinet Network Certified Associate, or Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCSNA) is required before the end of the probationary period and must be maintained valid during the period of employment. A valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation or ability to provide transportation between job sites is required. Positions in this classification may be assigned to work a non-standard workweek and be subject to on-call duty 24 hours, 7 days a week.
