About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

Unit: CSEA Current Vacancies: 14 Work Hours/ Work Years: 3 to 6 hours per day / 10 Months (180 Days - Student Days Only) CSEA Range 121 (Hourly Salary): Step A $22.39, Step B $23.53, Step C $24.72, Step D $25.97, Step E $27.28, Step F $28.66 Promotional/Open: The promotional group as well as the public may apply. The promotional side of the eligibility list shall take precedence when certifying eligibles. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of special needs students; assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of individual education plans; provide routine clerical support. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school or equivalent; experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency prior to employment. Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Paraprofessional Proficiency Requirement. SELECTION & EXAMINATIONS: The selection process will consist of an application screening for completeness and qualifications. A written exam that meets the ESSA standards (weighted 60%) and an oral interview exam (weighted 40%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exams to be placed on the eligibility list. Final interviews for specific vacancies will be scheduled from the approved eligibility list.
