San Gabriel Valley Regional Occupational Program (also known as SGVROP) was originally founded in 1970 as a Joint Powers Agency. The ROP provides high school students with industry required technical skills for high demand jobs. SGVROP is accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges). Career Technical Education (CTE) classes are offered in a multitude of Career Pathways at the high school sites within six member school districts (Azusa, Baldwin Park, Charter Oak, Glendora, San Gabriel, and Walnut). Most ROP classes include simulated hands-on learning opportunities at a local business in the community. The San Gabriel Valley ROP is seeking a proactive, vibrant, and can-do individual to serve as our next Chief Business Official (CBO)! The ideal candidate is someone who is committed to providing professional services within our organization and to our seven partner school districts. The person will be a leader in administration and operations, who can build team cohesion, and will have strong written and verbal communication skills. In addition to supervising their team, the person will work closely with the Superintendent and other cabinet members to meet the needs of our Board and seven-member districts, including liaison to the ROP Finance Committee. The CBO possesses the ability to work on multiple complex projects at any given time and provide researched and well-reasoned fiscally prudent recommendations to the Superintendent. The selected CBO candidate is a professional, proactive, and solution-oriented leader. They are collaborative, inclusive, and committed to exceptional service, both to internal and external customers. They enjoy participating and collaborating with a high-energy service-orientated team; is an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, being poised in all settings. The selected CBO will lead with vision and confidence, and full transparency in communication and presenting work product and continuing to modernize the operations of the Business Services Department. The CBO position is primarily responsible for all non-academic components of operating the ROP and is one of the primary strategic conversation partners for the Superintendent's Cabinet. Here are the foundational responsibilities that rest with the CBO: 1) Strategic budget conversations and ongoing cash flow management responsibility, including reconciliation of end-of-period (month-end; year-end; and interim) statements and reports, and, preparing these for submission and sharing with the Superintendent, Board, and other stakeholders. 2) Budget development and m

CASBO CBO Certification Preferred (in-progress is acceptable) Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics Desirable Prior experience as Director Fiscal Services or similar role managing and developing budgets within a California Education system preferred California ROP experience desirable Resume Three letters of reference (dated within prior two years) Copy of college transcripts or diploma Copy of CBO Certification (or evidence of “in-progress” from CASBO)
