JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Social Skills Facilitator
Reports To: Director of Special Ed or Designee
Salary: Range 28
Classification: Classified
FLSA: Non-Exempt (hourly)
Work Year: School Term - 195 Work Days
Board Ratified: 9/29/11
Basic Function:
The Social Skills Facilitator works under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator and/or the Director of Special Education to provide small group and/or individual social skill lessons from researched based social skills curriculum to students in general education and/or special education from kindergarten through twelfth grades.
Representative Duties:
- Conduct social skills groups of 3 to 6 students independently and / or whole class lessons under the supervision of the certificated teacher, at various sites using approved district curriculum.
- Prepare materials for lessons.
- Operation of equipment necessary for implementation of the program.
- Maintain lesson notes and confidential student records regarding participation in the program.
- Participate in a minimum of 1 ½ hours of supervision and training a week.
- Participate in student selection and evaluation.
- Assist with data collection and other record keeping tasks.
- Perform other clerical duties as needed to support the program – typing correspondence, mailing notices, filing, and coordinating schedules.
- Attend additional trainings required by the district.
- Other related duties as assigned
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge and Application of: District policies and procedures, computer hardware and software programs and other office equipment necessary for program operation, procedures and record-keeping systems, correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary, general principals of child development, interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Ability to:
- Maintain student group schedules, and meet deadlines.
- Compile and maintain files on each student
- Compile, maintain, write, and submit accurate and complete records and reports and process data.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions and work independently without direct supervision.
- Operate modern office equipment and applicable software programs.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and school staff.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and supervisor.
- Perform clerical functions
- Speak, read, and write English (bilingual desired)
- Drive personal owned vehicle (POV) to and from various school sites to perform duties, mileage reimbursement at the district established rate.
Education and Experience:
Education: High School Diploma and bilingual language skills desired.
NCLB requirements met.
Experience: Requires at least one-year of child-youth related working experience or the equivalent in an educational setting.
Special Requirements: Must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and maintain the minimum state vehicle insurance.

While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works inside and is required to drive his/her POV from site to site on a regular basis. The employee works in an office and/or classroom setting and often in a school environment setting with students and staff.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
