THE POSITION
The Business, Facilities & Operations Division is now accepting applications for the Buyer position. Under the direction of the Manager - Purchasing Services, the individual in this position will perform responsible technical and clerical purchasing functions for the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class participates in the timely and economic acquisition of a variety of supplies, services, and capital equipment as assigned. This job class requires initiative, accuracy, and attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to focus on multiple tasks. The ideal candidate for the Buyer position will have experience in procurement of materials, equipment, and services, be able to understand, interpret and apply federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to public procurement, provide customer service and have effective written and oral communication skills. The Buyer will be responsible for, but not limited to, reviewing requisitions for purchases, work with cross-functioning teams within the organization and manage the purchasing card program through BofA Works. This position is full-time, in-person and has a work year of 12 months/ 261 days/ 8 hours per day. - Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated.
- The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for December 7, 2023.
- Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for December 14, 2023.
- Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list.
- Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for tentatively scheduled for December 27, 2023.
