Job Summary

Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Cybersecurity Engineer for the Cybersecurity Department of the Integrated Technology Services Division. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive cybersecurity assessments in various K-12 information technology environments, identifying vulnerabilities, and simulating real-world attack scenarios; monitoring and assessing information systems to mitigate vulnerabilities and implement information technology security solutions and programs by utilizing security tools and techniques. This position is full-time and will offer the classified Management benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, and will participate in the CalPERS state retirement system.

Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in information technology, computer science, or related field of study, and three (3) years of experience in implementing and monitoring information security technology, specifically with penetration testing, intrusion detection, incident response, or digital forensics. Certificates and Licenses: • Valid CA Driver’s License • CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or • OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional), or • GPEN (GIAC Penetration Tester)

To be considered for this position, you must individually attach the following items to your completed EDJOIN Application: • Resume, detailing education and experience • Letter of Introduction • Two current, signed Letters of Recommendation dated with the last year • Proof of degree or transcripts verifying bachelor degree from a regionally accredited college or university in information technology, computer science, or related field of study • Copy of required certification as indicated above (CEH, or OSCP, or GPEN) The results of this recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list to fill the current vacancy and any other vacancies in this classification for the next six (6) months, or until the list is exhausted.
