KEPPEL UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT RECREATION LEADER DEFINITION Under the immediate supervision of the Principal or designee, to provide supervision of students in or around campus buildings, facilities, and areas adjacent to the school sites; ensures students follow schoolwide behavioral expectations and safety procedures; and to do other related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES 1. Provide effective and active supervision of students before and/or after school, during recess and/or mealtimes, and during other assigned playground supervision periods; 2. Assists with minor clean-up of meal areas to maintain safety and cleanliness; 3 Monitor restroom areas for proper use; 4. Enforce school rules and schoolwide behavioral expectations on the playground and throughout the school campus; 5. Utilize and implement positive behavior supports, disciplinary procedures, and techniques in accordance with the School Site Plan; 6. Organize and monitor structured playground activities and games on school grounds and be acquainted with game rules; 7. Assist students in resolving minor conflicts on the playground; 8. Keep children in range of vision and circulate around the area assigned; 9. Coordinate dismissals from playground and lunch areas as per site procedure; 10. Follow the established site procedures in case of major incidents, accidents, injuries, and/or emergencies; 11. Provides information for the preparation of incident/accident reports, as needed; 12. Report any unsafe playground conditions to the site administrator/designee promptly; 13. Recognize and report any security concerns to the site administrator/designee immediately; 14. Performs other related duties as assigned. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: General needs and behavior of children; Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy Ability to: Communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities; Follow and enforce rules and regulations firmly and fairly;

Experience: Prefer experience working with children; Prefer experience with security/safety procedures and measures. Education: High school diploma or its equivalent Board Approved: January 18, 2018
