Under general supervision, a person who operates an automobile over designated SELPA routes transporting school children with special needs, and does other related work as required.

Must possess a current, valid California Drivers' License, a valid, up-to-date Medical Examiner's Certificate, a First Aid and CPR Certificate. Current DMV printout required.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
-Experience: One year of responsible work with children.
-Knowledge of: Safe driving practices; First Aid practices.
-Ability to: Deal effectively with children with special needs; Maintain a pleasing personality and to get along well with children and adults; Learn designated route, including stops and traffic hazards; Maintain order among students; Recognize malfunctions in equipment and take appropriate action; Maintain simple records; Work independently without supervision; Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Good health; Ability to lift and assist students in emergency situation; sit for long duration of time; Pass District physical examination which includes drug screening.
EDUCATION
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
