The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Instructional Lab Technician / Emergency Medical Technician in the Fire/EMT Department, located at Miramar College. Hours are Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, may include occasional Saturdays. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Major factors to be evaluated for an Instructional Lab Technician / Trades in the Emergency Medical Technology department may include
• An Associate Degree.
• Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Certification.
• Minimum of two years full-time or equivalent part-time hours, pre-hospital and/or in hospital, EMT or paramedic work experience.
• Current BLS Provider or BLS Instructor card.
• Demonstrate competency in NREMT/San Diego EMT skills.
• Demonstrate current knowledge of San Diego EMSA protocols and treatment guidelines
• Demonstrate current knowledge of National EMS Education Standards.
• Maintain, inventory and organize EMT equipment and supplies.
• Demonstrate competency in the application of industry standard safety regulations involving the preparation and handling of EMT equipment.
• Prepare the labs for instructor/student use.
• Coordinate EMT equipment and facility usage.
• Schedule EMT trainers.
• Train EMT trainers in demonstrating and teaching EMT skills.
• Direct EMT trainers and students in the EMT laboratories.
• Evaluate student performance in EMT laboratories and in NREMT Psychomotor Examinations.
• Demonstrate competency with a variety of computer programs.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Work independently with little direction.

Pay Information:
Range 23 ($4,104.63- $6,551.93) per month based on the current https://www.sdccd.edu/docs/HumanResources/employee%20relations/Salary%20Schedules/Classified%20Salary%20Schedule%202023.pdfe. New employees will begin on Step A ($4,104.63), Step B ($4,309.87) with 18 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience or up to Step C ($4,525.36) with 36 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience. For purposes of salary placement, 7.5 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of directly related coursework from a regularly accredited institution will be equivalent to one (1) year of job experience. Step C is the maximum step placement for a new hire, and this is non-negotiable at this time. Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment.
