JOB TITLE: Instructional Program Technician

Job Purpose Statement/s: The job of "Instructional Program Technician" is done for the purpose/s of implementing a specialized instructional activity such as a reading program, computer lab program, resource center, or GATE program; assessing the effectiveness of instruction; providing written support and/or conveying information regarding instructional materials.

Essential Job Functions:

* Instructs students for the purpose of complementing classroom instruction using various educational resources (i.e. computer software, videos, etc.).

* Plans and develops creative and original programs for the purpose of improving the level of student skill.

* Prepares and distributes documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.

* Administers tests for the purpose of assisting the teacher in evaluating the students’ progress.

* Processes documents and materials for the purpose of disseminating information.

* Provides feedback of student performance to teachers and students for the purpose of assessing the effectiveness of instruction.

Other Job Functions:

* Participates in various activities (e.g. meetings, training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.

* Recommends software applications and other resource acquisitions for the purpose of ensuring availability of instructional materials.

Essential Job Requirements - Qualifications:

* Experience Required:

Prior job related experience.

* Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

Skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, students, parents, school administrators and the community; to operate standard office equipment, operate various computer software applications, use English in verbal and written form, use correct grammar, punctuation and spelling and perform basic math to make calculations.

Knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods.

Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions; modify instructional materials purchased for use in the program. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, stooping/kneeling/crouching, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity.

* Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Health Physical Examination, Tuberculosis Testing/Clearance.

The position is 3.75 hours per day; 182 days per year; located at San Marcos High School. The working hours for this position are approximately 2:45 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Employees new to the District are allowed salary schedule placement credit up to two (2) years of previous experience with a maximum salary schedule entry placement for step three (3).
