The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking highly qualified and skilled accounting and finance professionals for the role of Financial Operations Team Leader. The ideal candidate would have a strong, technical accounting background in a school or government setting, with familiarity of auditing principals, as well as state/federal funding requirements. The Financial Operations Team Leader manages, plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the activities of staff responsible for providing budgeting, compliance monitoring, and financial reporting for all of LACOE’s specially funded programs; develops, implements and maintains business and financial systems, processes, and procedures designed to improve the budgeting, financial, and operational support to clients. Becoming a FOTL requires that you have specialized subject matter expertise in public agency financial administration and professional accounting, governmental accounting, finance, organizational management, financial systems applications and related federal and state regulations. You will also be charged with the oversight functional supervision over a work unit. The Well Qualified Candidate… Will have the ability to: • Consult and advise on highly controversial and sensitive matters requiring tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality • Analyze complex business and financial problems and develop effective solutions and recommendations • Apply deductive and inductive logic in drawing conclusions • Make decisions and assess risk based on calculated return-on-investment • Evaluate and compare relative cost and value of what is to be exchanged • Prioritize tasks and adjust priorities as situations change • Flow information downward and upward in the organization • Present information in a clear and organized manner • Conduct or lead meetings • Develop and conduct training classes and seminars • Develop and maintain work relationships and continuously works to improve relationships, contacts, and networks • Supervise, train, and evaluate subordinate personnel • Understand, interpret, and apply complex technical and administrative laws, rules, procedures, and policies Required Education and Experience (must be met by 7/30/2010) Education: A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a field directly related to the duties and knowledge requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Experience: Five years of professional experience at a management level in accounting and finance administration, utilizing business and/or financial systems applications. Notes: A valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation or ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required.

Education: A bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Experience: Five years of experience in analyzing and reconciling accounts; budget preparation; and financial analysis, forecasting, monitoring, reporting, and auditing; using business or financial systems applications, including two years of supervisory experience. Additional Requirements: A valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation or ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required. Hybrid remote schedules may be available. To ensure the health and safety of its staff, LACOE may require employees to provide evidence of full vaccination against COVID-19.
