About the Employer
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
The Business Services Division delivers services to support the educational programs of Orange County school districts, partnering agencies and the business community it serves. The division strives to improve efficiency and implement business solutions with a high level of customer services and professionalism while fostering a collaborative work environment. OCDE is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated individual to serve as Administrator, Business Services. The selected individual will lead teams, manage, supervise, coordinate, and provide technical, advisory and consultative services to Orange County school districts in business-related areas. In addition, the Administrator, Business Services will represent the County Superintendent of Schools on committees; coordinate assigned activities with other units, divisions, outside agencies, and the general public; and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to higher level management staff.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in accounting, finance, business, public administration, information systems or a related field. • Five years of responsible professional experience in fiscal management and accounting including considerable supervisory experience.
