Job Summary

Job Summary

Assists managers, supervisors, specialists, and directors with interpretation and routine application of school policies, procedures, and appropriate Memorandum’s of Understanding as it pertains to Human Resources. Responds to requests for documentation related to human resources activities. Assists employees and departments with the interpretation of personnel related procedures. Works with hiring authorities and administrators to perform all aspects of the recruitment and hiring process including the development and posting of open positions. Assists in the reviewing and screening of applicants process, develops and administers appropriate selection tools for hiring and maintains eligibility lists, coordination of new employee hire processing, and background checks. Maintains regular HR updates of employee personnel files and benefits. Acts as a support for supervisors and administrators as needed. Assists efforts of payroll maintenance by providing all required documentation necessary.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Training: • Equivalent to an Associate’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Labor Relations or Organizational Leadership is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in one of the relevant aforementioned fields or a specialized certificate in Labor Relations or Human Resources Management is desirable.

Experience/Minimum Qualifications: • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing human resources functions or other administrative, clerical, financial and/or statistical record keeping that can be directly related to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification of Human Resources technician. A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Labor Relations or Organizational Leadership may substitute for the experience requirement. • The ability to communicate with a diverse group of people on a daily basis • Possession of a valid California driver's license • Obtain TB clearance • Live Scan clearance or fingerprint submission Skills/Qualifications: • Possession of a valid California driver's license • Must possess a valid California class “C” driver’s license, with a satisfactory driving record as determined by the District and maintain it throughout employment. • Basic principles and practices of human resources administration, recruitment and selection, policies and procedures • Practices and techniques of benefit administration, training, and payroll administration • Applicable federal and state fair employment laws, rules, and regulations, including FMLA, CFRA, California Labor Code, Cal-OSHA and Fed-OSHA rules and regulations • Current methods and techniques used in administrative support tasks such as, but not limited to, preparing reports, letters, invoices, receipts, reservations, announcements, memorandums, and e-mails • Modern office equipment and procedures, including use of word processing, database programs, desktop publishing, and word processing in currently used programs • Basic operation of automated office machines including calculator, computer, keyboard, printers, scanners, and other peripherals, copier, and fax machine • Basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, calculation and decimals, ratios, percentages, and fractions
