General Description:
Coordinates and oversees the various modes of admissions and registration, and activities that pertain to admissions and registration.

Examples of Duties

Representative Duties:

• Trains and oversees the activities of all modes of admissions and registration
• Coordinates and processes “Special Registration” for short-term classes and registration for off-campus classes
• Develops forms pertaining to admissions and registration
• Updates the schedule request forms
• Assists in serving as liaison person to coordinate the various activities of admissions and registration with other departments on campus and off-campus
• Serves as “troubleshooter” to handle problems concerning admissions and registration
• Processes and maintains registration statistics
• Processes and maintains data base file for Prerequisite Challenges and Delayed Determinations
• Assists in planning the Admissions and Records calendar for regular semesters and the summer sessions
• Provides specific information for the Schedule of Classes
• Other related duties as assigned

Knowledge of:

• Office methods and practices including filing systems, record keeping, telephone techniques
• English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
• Rules, regulations and policies
• Operation of computers

Ability to:

• Analyze situations accurately and to adopt an effective course of action
• Interact successfully with the public and with college staff at all levels
• Data entry
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Associate's degree AND at least one year of applicable experience
OR
• High School diploma OR GED AND four (4) years applicable experience
OR

• The equivalent education and experience
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students

Work is performed primarily in an office environment with some travel to different sites; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.

Those applicants deemed highly qualified for the position will be invited to appear for oral interviews before a screening committee. A limited number of candidates will be invited to interviews.
