Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires a Clerical Assistant test and a typing test. Testing TBD. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of responsible clerical duties to assist administrators, counselors, students, and parents involving frequent public contact; assist administrators, teachers, parents, and students; input a variety of information and produce a variety of correspondence, records, and reports; greet the public, answer phones, and provide information; process student attendance and assist parents and students with registration and class enrollment; assist with a variety of details related to the implementation of District programs. Candidates must be able to type 40 words per minute and have the capacity to deal effectively in a school office environment with constant interruptions and occasional contact with angry or dissatisfied individuals. A candidate with knowledge of Aeries is preferred. Qualifications: Candidate must be a high school graduate and have at least one year of clerical experience in a school environment involving the use of a computer terminal. Candidates must be able to apply and explain methods, procedures, policies, and terminology used in student attendance accounting, maintain manual and computerized student files, and meet schedules and timelines. Candidates must have knowledge of office practices, procedures, equipment, record-keeping techniques, and appropriate telephone techniques and etiquette. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation are essential. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
