Requirements / Qualifications
Requirements for Applying: Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. College training with major work in engineering, architecture, or a closely related field may be substituted for four years experience on a year-for-year basis. Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in maintenance or construction work, including the responsibility for directing a major building and grounds maintenance and operations program. Knowledge of: Organization of the public school district maintenance department Principles of supervision and training. Record keeping methods. Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary Ability to: Plan, organize and direct departments Plan, schedule, make work assignments, set priorities, train, evaluate, select and recommend discipline of subordinates. Understand and apply the legal requirements of school district maintenance department and safety. Prepare specifications and review and analyze budgets. Prepare clear and concise reports. Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contracted in the course of work. Licenses and other requirements: Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Acceptable driving record and insurability by the District’s Insurance Carrier. Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance. Evidence of TB clearance.
