Job Summary

Job Summary

Under direction of the principal, plan and teach welding classes. The class will follow the California State CTE standards and provide students with relevant academic and technical instruction within the Manufacturing and Product Development industry sector. The teacher serves in the roles of the American Welding Society (AWS) Test Facility Representative and Quality Assurance Manager for the Accredited Testing Facility (ATF). The teacher ensures all required ATF processes and procedures are met. The teacher will be responsible to monitor and review all facility and program elements to ensure alignment with and accreditation of the program as an AWS Accredited Testing Facility (ATF). *This position ranges from 15-30 hours per week, with the possibility of full-time hours. Additionally, the Career Education Center can offer flexibility in how class schedules are created to meet the needs of the welding teacher. *

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and possess a Designated Subjects Credential in Manufacturing and Product Development. If an applicant does not possess the credential, he/she must have at least three years of work experience directly related to the subject to be named on the credential, to include: • One year of the required experience shall be within the last five years of the issuance of the credential; OR • Two years of the required experience shall be within the last ten years of the issuance of the credential. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Required: • Valid California driver license; AND • Qualification for Designated Subjects Credential in Manufacturing and Product Development; OR Single Subject Industrial and Technology Education; AND • A minimum of five years of experience in weld testing and inspection; AND • Obtain an AWS Certified Welder Educator (CWE) certificate within 6 months of hire; AND • Obtain an AWS Certified Welder Inspector (CWI) certificate prior to renewal of contract; AND • May be required to obtain an AWS WPQ1 Procedure and Performance Qualification Endorsement Exam. Preferred: Current welding certifications; Working knowledge of non-destructive testing; Working knowledge of common welding processes, weld inspection and testing, and metallurgy; Working knowledge of basic fabrication, layout, and blueprint reading.

All application materials must be submitted with a VCOE application as a complete package. A complete application package must include the following:

  • Credential Copy (Designated Subjects Credential in Manufacturing and Product Development OR Single Subject Industrial and Technology Education)
  • Letter of Introduction
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (3 letters dated within the last 18 months [LETTERS MUST BE DATED]**)
  • Resume
