Requirements / Qualifications

CAVA seeks to provide students access to student clubs to foster academic and social emotional growth and development. The ASB is responsible for hosting and attending weekly meetings, facilitating student involvement in school leadership, guiding students through long and short-term projects, and ensuring timely completion of projects. SALARY INFORMATION: After Hours/Additional Duties Salary (stipend): • Compensated for actual hours, up to 20 monthly hours at $40 per hour, when leading ASB activities, events, meetings, etc. - While a majority of these hours will occur after the school day, there may be times when some duties are completed during the school day and can be accounted for, provided they are specific to ASB duties and responsibilities. We do participate in CalSTRS. Please contact your CalSTRS counselor about how employment with the California Virtual Academies may affect your personal STRS account. Full time teachers are offered health, dental, & vision benefits. Benefit details are only given out upon offer.

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: • Strong belief in CAVA’s mission and vision • Current CAVA employee REQUIRED CREDENTIAL/CERTIFICATION: (All applicants MUST have the following at the time of applying) Must hold a valid California Teaching Credential, Pupil Personnel Services Credential, or Administrative Credential Essential Duties and Responsibilities: After Hours Club Duties: • ASB will meet at least once per week, except during holiday weeks. • The advisor will work with students to guide them in planning and facilitating the student experience. • The advisor will create and implement an end-of-year survey to collect student feedback. • The advisor will keep attendance records of students who participate to be used by the administration to determine effectiveness in meeting the club’s goals. Student Government Advisor (ASB) Duties: • Host weekly meetings and additional committee meetings as needed. • Facilitate student involvement. • Host student government elections. • Oversee student government leaders. • Facilitate planning for school-wide spirit week events (including but not limited to elections, monthly Bear Breaks, fundraising, Teacher Appreciation Week, Prom, Winter Formal, Art Walks, Teacher/Student Talent Shows, and other events/activities) REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Letter of Introduction (Please attach a letter of introduction in which you dicsuss your experience and why you are interested in the position.)
