Job Summary

The Student Information Systems (SIS) Specialist ensures the effective collection, analysis, maintenance, and reporting of data for students of multiple schools within California’s Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS), local databases and systems and state testing systems, and K12’s student information systems for a highly dynamic, virtual school environment.

ABOUT CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND THE STUDENT INFORMATION SPECIALIST POSITION: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily and log attendance. Stride is our curriculum provider. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: (All applicants MUST have the following at the time of applying) High school diploma or equivalent REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE: • Must reside in the state of California • Strong written and oral communication skills • Preferred Two (2) years of data management experience in a Student Information System and/or CALPADs. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook • Self-directed but able to work as part of a team. • Strong leadership skills • Proficient with data entry/using databases; Web proficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Accurately maintains the school’s student records in California’s Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data Systems (CALPADS); Liaises with coordinators throughout the state to clarify anomalies with other schools. •Performs data entry into the student information system (SIS); Verifies accuracy, corrects errors, and resolves issues. • Implements and enforces audits of student files on an ongoing basis as directed by the Student Information Coordinator. • Capacity to work effectively and efficiently, with a high degree of accuracy, in local databases and systems, state testing systems, and K12’s student information systems are requisite for success in this role in our commitment to ensure a high-functioning team and virtual school environment. • Provides State Reporting support. • Other duties as required by the Director of Accountability *Please note that everything herein is subject to change HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: $21.63 per hour Full Time: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm As all of our schools are public schools and this is a public school position, these are set contracted hours and you must be working during these hours while under contract with the California Virtual Academies.
