Job Summary

Job Summary

This position will be for the 2024-2025 school year. Teachers will provide academic instruction aligned with Common Core State Standards. Teachers are expected to use digital tools such as Google Classroom, Google suite, Kami, among other resources. Teachers will be in charge of creating lessons using a McGraw Hill textbook, differentiating instruction based on student needs, and assessing the student learning. Ivy Bound Academy, with two campuses in the San Fernando Valley (Sherman Oaks and Northridge) serving students in 5th through 8th grade, has openings for talented and dedicated teachers to join our dynamic staff for the 2023-2024 school-year.  Classes taught include 6th, 7th, 8th grade English. The ideal candidate must have strong content knowledge, classroom management strategies, and be comfortable with technology-enhanced instruction. Prior knowledge in use of Smart and Promethean Interactive Boards, PowerSchool student information system, Google Classroom, etc... are a plus; however, we do train our teachers in their use.

Responsibilities

Teachers will perform a full range of duties, including but not limited to:

  • Preparing/implementing lesson plans that lead to student mastery of curriculum content, including the subjects you are hired to teach.
  • Developing /implementing integrated curriculum units, differentiating and scaffolding as needed
  • Regularly assessing student progress to refine instruction and meet student needs
  • Participating regularly in professional development opportunities and collaborative meetings
  • Communicating frequently with students, students' families, colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Working closely with children and their families to promote personal growth and success
  • Maintaining regular, punctual attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Applicants who possess the following skills will make the strongest candidates:

  • California Teaching Credential or equivalent, meeting all NCLB "highly qualified" standards
  • CLAD/BCLAD certification
  • Must have Single Subject Teaching Credential, or alternate authroization
  • Demonstrated ability to implement varied classroom instructional strategies
  • Educational vision for and experience with students from all walks of life, including low-income and /or minority students
  • Demonstrated track record with English language learners is a plus
  • Commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of students
  • Passion for working with children and their families
