POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time Buyer position in our Purchasing Department to assist in functions related to purchasing and material procurement for the District. This position requires expertise in principles and practices related to preparing bids, contacting vendors and purchasing materials, supplies, services and equipment using standard predetermined specifications. This career opportunity is a 8-hour/day, 12-month/year position with paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation. The District offers a comprehensive health benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and District paid life insurance for the employee. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent is required. Formal coursework or formal training (i.e., vocational or college) in business or public administration or a related field is preferred. Experience: Three (3) years of paid experience in purchasing, inventory control or other related fields such as accounting or business services. Two (2) years (i.e., 60 semester or 90 quarter units) of college coursework relevant to the position may be substituted for one year of the required professional experience. School district or public sector purchasing experience is preferred. Knowledge of: Principles, practices, methods and legal requirements relating to public sector purchasing; modern purchasing and stores procedures, including receiving, inspecting, handling, storing and distributing materials; and provisions of the Education, Public Contract, Government and Civil Codes of the State of California pertaining to purchasing. Other License: Possession of a Class C California Driver’s License
RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. Recruitment examinations may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
