Job Summary

This position is a GRANT BASED position with funding through September 30, 2024. The Community Wellness Health Educator will provide technical assistance to our wellness program staff, conduct community outreach and engagement and assist with implementation of program initiatives under the CalFresh Healthy Living Program. This position is a 12-mth (8 hr/day) Management level position who receives free single medical coverage, free family dental and vision coverage. Under the direction of the Community Wellness Outreach Coordinator and Director of Food Services, the Community Wellness Health Educator has primary responsibility to provide technical assistance to wellness program staff and community partners, conduct community outreach and engagement, and assist with implementation of program initiatives under the CalFresh Healthy Living Program. The overall goal of the program is to apply comprehensive evidence-based obesity prevention strategies to achieve specific behavioral outcomes including increased consumption of healthy foods, reduced consumption of less healthy foods and beverages, and increased levels of physical activity.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum requirements: - Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Community or Public Health Education or a closely related field or a minimum of two (2) years experience as a health educator in underserved communities. - One (1) year experience developing and implementing nutrition and/or health education programs; - One (1) year experience organizing and facilitating workshops, events, or programs; - Previous supervisory experience preferred - Experience implementing health promotional initiatives; - Experience implementing school based health projects; - Valid California driver’s license and/or ability to secure timely transportation for off-site travel to a variety of community sites throughout the region; - Valid ServSafe certification preferable; - Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred
