Education and Experience: *Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. Licenses and other requirements: *Valid CDL with appropriate passenger and air brake endorsements and a California School Bus special certificate. *Valid First Aid and CPR certificates issued by an authorized agency. *Willing to provide certification class for qualified applicants who currently do not possess the School Bus Certificate. Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Program: All persons selected by a hiring supervisor are subject to pre-employment testing, and written verification of participation in prior drug testing programs. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Safe and defensive driving practices. Proper operations of school buses. Applicable traffic and student transportation laws, codes and regulations. Basic first aid procedures. Basic record-keeping techniques including inventory methods. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Health and safety regulations. Oral and written communication skills. Occupational hazards of the mechanics trades and applicable health and safety laws, regulations, and practices. Operation and use of hand, power tools and equipment used in gasoline, diesel, and CNG engine repair and maintenance of related parts or equipment including electric and high tech engines. Fuels, fluids, and chemicals used in operations of vehicles. Technology and computer software applications as appropriate to the work environment. * Full Time Equivalent
