Responsibility:
Under the direction of the School Principal, performs a wide variety of clerical, secretarial, and receptionist functions to support the day-to-day operations of the school site.

Essential Functions:
1. Greets the public and helps staff, community, and students with questions, concerns, problems, etc.

2. Screens and handles telephone calls to the school, including those for the Principal teachers, and students.

3. Duties include dealing with a wide variety of information on a strictly confidential basis.

4. Composes and types letters, memos, reports, and other correspondence for the Principal and general school business.

5. Assists in maintaining the school office filing system for all appropriate areas, including student records.

6. Operates all office business machines and provides assistance to staff and parent volunteers regarding such equipment.

7. Possesses ability to read, understand, and carry out oral and written directions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Maintains student records and reports, including absences, schedules, student discipline, parent-teacher conference information, and cumulative file information.

2. Administers First Aid to students in absence of School Nurse.

3. Serves as school registrar performing enrollment and records transfer processing; maintains updated mailing lists for students.

4. Assists in preparation of test score records, student schedules, schedule changes, report cards, and scheduling of parent-teacher meetings.

5. Types monthly school newsletter and distributes; maintains master activities calendar.

6. Receives and maintains miscellaneous funds; opens and closes accounts.

7. Maintains and orders office supplies as needed.

8. Supervises student office workers or clerical help.

9. Telephones and confers with parents regarding student welfare, as needed.

10. Keeps time records of employees for payroll purposes.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Ability and skills to understand and work in a confidential office.

2. Strong skills in dealing diplomatically and effectively with a wide variety of people.

3. Well organized, logical thinker; good general math skills.

4. Ability to work independently and efficiently under general supervision with constant interruptions.

5. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; working knowledge of computer and word processing software and general office equipment.

6. Strong command of the English language; excellent spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, proofreading and grammatical skills.

7. Skills and ability to perform clerical work with speed and accuracy. Ability to type 55 words per minute accurately.

8. Ability to coordinate multiple activities and quickly learn and utilize school district Policies and Regulations.

Education and Experience.

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Minimum one year of recent responsibility as a secretary or receptionist/clerk.

Physical Requirements:

1. Position requires normal physical strength and endurance for standing, sitting, bending, or walking.

2. Work assignments are normally located in a work environment with light physical work and require light physical effort.

3. Lifting 25lbs. maximum or carrying any object weighing over 15 lbs.

Requirements / Qualifications

Resume Letter(s) of Recommendation Must provide a typing certificate showing 55 wpm. Powerschool experience desired.

A Typing Certificate must accompany the application - Minimum of 55 NET wpm issued within the last two years. Must include name, address, and phone number of the issuing agency, showing NET wpm and length of test (not less than 3 minutes). ONLINE CERTIFICATES ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

Requirements / Qualifications
