Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Coordinator in the Special Education-Assessment & Support Services division, screens students to determine those who may need speech and language therapy services. Participates in the writing of each student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP). Administers applicable diagnostic instruments to determine whether students’ needs have been met, i.e., IEP goals and objectives of speech and language therapy. Schedules for speech and language therapy; provide speech and language therapy as scheduled. Offers suggestions for teacher consideration of speech and language activities which might be beneficial for children exhibiting communicative handicaps. This is an itinerant position based out of Bakersfield, CA.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Credentials: • Appropriate California credential(s) for providing speech and language therapy services. Experience: • Prefer one year in professional speech and language therapy services. Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver’s license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
