Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director/Assistant Director of Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation and/or Transportation Supervisor, to perform skilled, expert level work in the diagnosis, overhaul, repair, and preventive maintenance of heavy diesel, gasoline, and alternative fuel powered engines; repairs, rebuilds, or replaces transmissions, drive trains, brakes, steering, air conditioning, fuel and electrical systems, wheelchair lifts, and all similar vehicle components; and to do related work as may be required.
Requirements / Qualifications
-High School Diploma, GED, or higher level degree -Class “A” or “B” valid California Commercial License with a Passenger & valid School Bus endorsement with restriction of “1” -Restriction of “6” or a valid first aid certificate issued by the American Red Cross or by an organization whose first aid training program is at least equivalent to the American Red Cross first aid training program, as determined by the Emergency Medical Services Authority. -Current (within 30 days) H-6 report from the Department of Motor Vehicles with application
Education: -Graduation from high school or equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; -Any combination of training, education, and/or experience that would demonstrate the knowledge and skills to perform the duties required. Experience: -Three (3) years experience in the repair and overhaul of gasoline, heavy diesel, and alternative fuel powered equipment such as, autos and buses; -Electric vehicle maintenance experience desirable. Licenses, Certifications, and Testing: -Must possess a Class “A” or “B” valid California Commercial License with a Passenger & valid School Bus endorsement with restriction of “1”; during the course of employment and be insurable by the District’s liability insurance carrier; -Restriction of “6” or a valid first aid certificate issued by the American Red Cross or by an organization whose first aid training program is at least equivalent to the American Red Cross first aid training program, as determined by the Emergency Medical Services Authority. -Must be air brake and transit qualified; -Must provide a current (within 30 days) H-6 report from the Department of Motor Vehicles with application; -Pass a District performance test with a score of 70% or better.
