Job Summary
Under general direction, perform a wide variety of responsible and specialized clerical and secretarial functions in the area of Personnel. Provide for the interpretations of policies and regulations pertaining to the maintenance of personnel records and files; exercise responsibility for accurate and timely processing of personnel matters; use independent judgment and initiative, good human relations and problem solving skills in the application of established personnel policies and procedures.
Requirements / Qualifications
Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience, which would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed herein. Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent with 3 years prior clerical/secretarial experience. Knowledge: Knowledge of the operations, procedures and rules governing certificated or classified personnel administration and related legal requirements; proper office methods and procedures; report preparation and writing; effective recordkeeping systems and procedures; proper English spelling, grammar and punctuation; computer usage; good safety standards; use of office machines. Abilities: Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of specified records and information; interpret and apply pertinent policies, laws, rules, and procedures affecting personnel transactions and payroll practices; type at a speed of 65 words per minute; perform a variety of complicated tasks with minimum or no supervision; compose correspondence and prepare reports; operate various office machines and equipment; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. Must pass Personnel Specialist proficiency exam.
