The person in this role is responsible for the completion of cyclical processes and follows up to ensure timely completion of outstanding tasks. This position requires a high comfort level working within online systems and a demonstrated commitment to confidentiality.

Salary Range: $16.83 - $25.00 hourly

SUMMARY: The focus of the Bookkeeper is to perform the school’s accounting tasks, including timely and accurate entry of all transactions (particularly accounts payable), reconciliations, and month-end close. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   1. General accounting duties include reconciliations, perform month end close, collaborate with Controller to prepare financial reports.
  2. This position has a special focus on accounts payable, entering invoices into QuickBooks and ensuring proper approval, tracking, accounting, and payments.
  3. Processes payroll twice a month in Paycom. Works closely with HR to ensure that employee data is accurate and up to date with special attention to new hire onboarding, salary and status changes, employee benefit open enrollment and other changes that occur throughout the month as needed.
  4. Processes other receivables as assigned.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • At least one year of payroll support/processing experience and/or bookkeeping/accounting experience.
  • Minimum two years of data-entry experience demonstrating both a high degree of accuracy and the ability to self-manage within established timeframes and processes.
  • Knowledge of or interest in Waldorf education

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Basic accounting and bookkeeping skills and/or payroll processing skills.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to speak, write, and understand English fluently. Ability to write clear correspondence to accurately communicate details that are, at times, complex and/or sensitive.
  • Orientation toward customer service.
  • Ability to understand how data and processes impact organizational and personal outcomes.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to track tasks and effectively manage cyclical processes to ensure completion.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, including the ability to proof work to ensure accuracy. Ability to enter numeric data accurately, and to assess data entered to draw conclusions and provide insight to results.
  • Comfortable asking for clarification or additional guidance when needed.
  • Ability to interact comfortably with a diverse group of people representing a broad range of styles and identities, including teachers, administrators, trustees, parents and students.
  • Positive orientation toward equity and diversity.
  • High ethical standards and a high level of discretion in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and issues.
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems and software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with accounting software is required; QuickBooks experience is strongly preferred.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Occasional availability on weekends and/or evenings.

  • Mandated Reporter training (annual)
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention training (every two years)
  • First aid and CPR training (every two years).
