JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Technology Specialist II 
Reports To: Director of Information Technology
Salary: Range 49 
Classification: Classified
FLSA: Non-Exempt (hourly) 
Work Year: 12 Months – 261 Work Days
Board Ratified: 3/12/15
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Information Technology, performs and coordinates the necessary
duties and functions to support technology for teaching and learning and to achieve the goals of the CUSD Technology
Plan.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
? Provide desktop support in classroom and office settings, including maintenance, repairs, deployment, and
upgrades of computers, software, and network servers and design cost and time effective work flow processes
for Computer Specialists I staff to complete these tasks and projects.
? Maintain computer hardware inventory and tracking of software programs.
? Assist the Network Administrator with creating and supporting technology and database user accounts,
security for personal folders, and electronic mail.
? Assist the Network Administrator with LAN/WAN support, troubleshooting, and server/system management.
? Provide database users with technical support, assistance with queries, and security for the district Student
Information System.
? Develop and support district internet websites and webmasters by providing training, design support, and
programming as needed.
? Assist in the design, set-up, specification, and support of multi-media systems, including video, music, sound,
animation, and other visual and/or learning presentation applications.
? Provide computer hardware, program software, and web based user support and training.
? Answer and respond to trouble calls on the Technology Help Desk and monitor the Help Desk to insure that all
requests are addressed in a timely manner.
? Provide technical support and training to Computer Specialists I staff both one-on-one and during meetings.
? Research and analyze technical issues relevant to Ceres Unified technology and provide updates and
recommendations to the Director of Information Technology on these issues including, but not limited to,
deployment of hardware and software and the patches and fixes necessary to maintain these systems
? Attend staff meetings and in-service training as appropriate.
? Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: Personal computers, hardware, related software, multi-media systems, and web based applications
and functions.
Ability to:
? Set-up, operate, monitor, and maintain computer equipment.
? Use software programs, computer hardware, and train others.
? Read and understand equipment instructions and service manuals.
? Troubleshoot, analyze, and research technology problems.
? Understand and carry out oral and written directions and work independently without direct supervision.
? Communicate effectively and accurately both orally and in writing.
? Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
? Speak, read, and write English.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and training in computer technology.
Experience: Requires five years of experience in using, maintaining, and working with computer technology, software
programs, and electronic equipment.
Special Requirements: Must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and maintain the minimum
state vehicle insurance.
