About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. ACCESS is a public, WASC accredited educational program offering a variety of unique school options serving students throughout Orange County. The Orange County Department of Education's Skyview School is a K-8th grade alternative education located in Anaheim and serves primarily at-promise youth throughout northern and central Orange County. We are seeking a detailed and motivated individual to serve as Behavior Intervention Specialist to assist administrators and teachers in developing and implementing classroom and individual behavior plans. The selected candidate will work with new or continuing students demonstrating significant behaviors that impede the learning of self and others and observing and monitoring the frequency of behaviors via data collection and one-on-one interventions within the classroom and community. The Behavior Intervention Specialist works as part of a classroom team serving students with mild to moderate or moderate to severe learning, emotional, and behavioral disabilities. The incumbent will support social and emotional issues that are causing distractions within the classroom and disrupting the learning experiences at Skyview. This position is grant funded until September 30, 2024 and may be extended.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Two (2) years of experience working with student with various disabilities in an organized setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. • Bachelor's degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, special education, child development, or a related field. Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred.
