Job Summary
Under the supervision of an assigned supervisor, the job of Nutrition Services Assistant-Floater is done for the purposes of performing routine tasks in the assembly, serving, and sale of food in a high school or middle school kitchen or food service area.

High School diploma or equivalent. Any combination equivalent to sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.

Examination process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in an examination process. Candidates who have a valid food handler card and driver license may be excused from the examination process. The competitive basis for this recruitment is Open/Promotional - Dual Certification. Candidates who have a valid food handler card or pass our examination in lieu of submitting a food handler card are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies for six months.
Veterans may be eligible for preference points on entrance examinations ("entrance" is defined as candidates who are not current employees of the District). Please attach a copy of your DD214 to your application.
Employment with SDUHSD is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance. Please note that our agency receives federal funding and must adhere to federal regulations; results which indicate marijuana use will be considered non-passing.
Probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer. Management employees serve a probationary period of one year.
