Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, business administration, finance, accounting, or related field and
- Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience participating in Medi-Cal billing, claims submission or school finance. Completion of a medical billing and coding training program is preferred and can be substituted for one year of required experience
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Valid California driver's license
- Medical billing and coding certification (preferred)

THE POSITION
This is a remote position that requires in-person travel to various sites in California approximately or estimated at between 5-25%.
The Professional Learning & Support Division is now accepting applications for School Billing Health Specialist. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, the School Billing Health Specialist works in partnership with County Offices of Education (COE), Local Education Agencies (LEA), managed care plans, the Department of Behavioral Health Services, and other government agencies, to support the development of sustainable health and wellness systems of care within schools; provides technical assistance including coaching and training related to funding and sustaining school health programs; provides technical, specialized, consultative, advisory and planning services in the area of school health systems and opportunities for leveraging and maximizing services through claims submission; serves as a resource to program representatives and school districts. The ideal candidate for the School Health Billing Specialist position will possess a strong background in Medi-Cal systems and school-based health programs, coupled with healthcare Billing expertise. The ideal candidate should demonstrate exceptional skills in training and coaching diverse stakeholders, enabling effective participation in medical billing programs. A collaborative approach to developing sustainable health systems within schools, along with the ability to analyze data and create strategic plans for revenue generation, will be key to success in this role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for fostering partnerships with educational and health agencies. This position has a work year of 12 months, 261 days, 8 hours/day. Leadership team members are eligible to receive a $2,500 annual stipend for a master’s degree and a $2,500 additional stipend for a doctorate, provide official documentation is submitted. - Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for week of Monday, December 9, 2024.
