SELS opened in the fall of 2010 as an independent public charter school serving 64 K-5 students in multi-age classrooms. Over the next 3 years SELS expanded to serve K-8 students with an enrollment of 210-215. SELS offers a small school environment (class sizes from 22-25) dedicated to academic excellence, diversity, and the building of character and community. SELS is part of the EL Education network and is a high implementing Credentialed program.

Job Summary
2nd / 3rd Combo Classroom Teacher at an EL Education/Expeditionary Learning School. Drawing on the principles, strategies, and resources of our nationwide model EL Education, the 2nd/3rd combo-grade teacher will build on a creative, innovative classroom and a high performing, engaging school curriculum. The teacher will work with elementary colleagues to help provide vision and direction through curriculum decisions and the designing of interdisciplinary, locally-based expeditions (months-long thematic units). Rigorous academics and strong character/culture development will be enhanced with adventure education, fieldwork, and service-learning. All teachers are required to participate in extensive Professional Development and as collaborative members of a thirty-person staff.
