The Office of Equal Opportunity's (OEO) Civil Rights and Education Equity Office (CREEO) ensures compliance with state and federal civil rights and equity laws, policies, regulations, reporting requirements, rules, and statutes in the delivery of education services to all pupils throughout the State of California.
This is accomplished through the statewide implementation and monitoring of local educational agencies (LEAs) civil rights and education equity policies, practices, and procedures.
Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) performs complex and technical duties, including:
- Conducting civil rights and education equity compliance reviews of Local Education Agencies (LEAs), which includes LEA administrator & staff interviews, reviewing of evidence to assess compliance, and researching & analyzing appropriate legal requirement(s).
- Preparing thorough written findings and identifying compliance violations and corrective action(s).
- Facilitating and monitoring the timely resolution of issued compliance violations.
- Providing ongoing guidance and technical assistance to LEAs on civil rights and equity practices, policies,and procedures.
- Providing in-depth civil rights and education equity compliance training to LEA staff.
Extensive travel throughout the State of California with overnight travel is required.

Working Conditions
TELEWORK OPTION
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
Remote-Centered: This position is headquartered in Sacramento and is remote-centered for eligible applicants residing in California; up to three days per week telework and up to two days per week in the office.

5. Knowledge of State and Federal civil rights laws, policies, codes, and regulations, which aid in supporting compliance & equal access for all pupils to all educational services.
