The home/hospital teacher provides an educational program for pupils in grades K-12; develops and maintains an educational environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the District. Plans and directs the activities of home/hospital students; works with the student’s teacher to meet the student’s curricular needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Keeps grade and attendance records, time reports and other necessary documentation
• Prepares instructional objectives for the assigned student and the strategies for meeting them
• Prepares lesson plans for students assigned to home teaching; presents evidence of preparation if requested by immediate supervisor
• Translates lesson plans into learning experience to best utilize the time available for instruction
• Teaches any or all grade level subjects such as language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health and other appropriate learning activities to pupils in home/hospital environment using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education
• Provides for continuous evaluation of pupil progress consistent with teacher, school and District established instructional objectives, goals and policies. Evaluates pupil’s academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
