Requirements / Qualifications
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, patrol and monitor District sites and adjacent areas to enforce school and District rules, regulations and policies for the safety and security of students, staff and property; respond to security alarms and calls; report unusual activities or unauthorized persons on District property to the appropriate personnel; perform other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Supplemental college coursework in Criminal Justice or related field is desired. Proof required at time of employment. Experience: Two years of experience working with middle school or senior high school students performing supervision, security, and control services. Testing: Passing scores on District Safety Officer test within the last three (3) years. Other: Bilingual/Spanish desired LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: California Class C Driver License; First Aid and CPR certificate; School Security Officer Training (SB 1626) certificate; POST (Peace Officer Standards Training) Level II Training certificate; Oleoresin Capsicum (Pepper Spray) User Course Training certificate. Incident Command System 100 and 200 Training certificates and expandable baton training certificate required within the first 60 days of employment. All licenses and certifications are required at the time of employment and must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
TESTING INFORMATION: The District Safety Officer test will be given by invitation only on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
