Requirements / Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and Skills: Requires the ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the work of supervisory, professional/ technical, and service personnel; delegate authority and responsibility; select, supervise, train and evaluate staff; and provide administrative and operations leadership. Identify and respond to issues, concerns and needs. Develop, implement and administer goals, objectives and procedures for providing effective and efficient operations. Prepare and administer large and complex budgets. Allocate limited resources in a cost-effective manner. Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals. Research, analyze and evaluate new service delivery methods, procedures and techniques. Prepare clear and concise reports. Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations. Requires the ability to function indoors in an office environment and in a production kitchen engaged in work of an active nature. Requires ambulatory ability to move to different work locations and to bend, stoop, climb, and reach to perform inspections. Requires arm, hand, finger dexterity to demonstrate food service equipment, and use a computer keyboard. May require the ability to lift from floor, waist, or overhead, objects up to 25 pounds on an infrequent basis. Requires visual acuity to observe work and food products and read printed materials. Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone, including the ability to project voice in noisy work settings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with emphasis in foods, nutrition, institutional administration, or related field. Designation as Registered Dietitian and/or prior experience in the nutrition or fitness profession is preferred. The Director will develop and implement a vision to consistently improve food quality, healthy menu meal options, farm-to-table and increase student participation. Plans, manages, and participates in the activities and operations of the Food and Nutrition Services department including the leadership over catering, cafeterias, and staff, purchasing of food products and supplies, inventory control, budget administration, nutrition, menu management, and meal distribution.
