Job Summary

Aspen Public Schools Chief Academic Officer (CAO) sets the strategic vision and direction for the network’s academic program, including elements of curriculums, instruction, and assessment. The CAO collaborates with education partners to accomplish Aspen’s strategic plan goals. The CAO is the leader, spokesperson, and resident expert on academic programming and is charged with aligning education partners toward the organization’s vision. Ultimately, the CAO creates the conditions and drives the actions in which all students have equitable access to what they need to achieve their learning goals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -Vision and Mission Setting/School Culture -Set a clear, compelling, and research-supported vision for academic excellence at Aspen, including developing and codifying an equitable academic model in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. -Lead the team in defining and consistently calibrating what excellent instruction is tied to each content area (clarity with the highest leverage inputs that must be true in all classrooms with all teachers)(See Aspen Core Competencies). -Ensure all assessments being utilized internally and goals tied to those assessments align with the vision for academic success and the overall mission and values of the organization. -Develop full clarity of the ideal student experience within each content area and align that ideal with the impact on student learning. -Flag bearer and advocate for the SEL program to be integrated throughout the school day. -Collaborates with Site Leaders and teams to support the program (Includes PBIS, Second Step, and new curriculums) -Cultivate a commitment amongst all team members -Subject to changes: other duties as assigned by CEO.

Requirements / Qualifications

Administration Credential required. Only applications with administration credentials will be considered. 5+ years of teaching experience A master's degree in an education-related field preferred 2+ years of management experience
