The Long Beach Unified School District, the fourth largest in the state, is seeking a passionate and dedicated School Social Worker to serve full-time in the Bethune Homeless Foster Unit. This is a unique opportunity to be a catalyst for positive change in the lives of students experiencing homelessness and those in foster care. As a School Social Worker in this specialized unit, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the academic achievement and overall well-being of some of our most resilient students. You’ll work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and community partners to address barriers to learning and promote social, emotional, and behavioral wellness. Key responsibilities include: • Delivering direct support and case management to students eligible for Homeless/Foster Support Services. • Implementing the district’s comprehensive framework for student support. • Collaborating with school faculty and families to foster inclusive, trauma-informed environments. • Leading staff and parent education and engagement efforts. • Conducting outreach to strengthen school-community partnerships. • Advocating for students' rights and access to resources.
