We are seeking Special Education Instructional Aides to work with special education teachers in proving instruction and services to our scholars with exceptional needs in accordance with the special education services and programs of John Adams Academy and in alignment with our mission and our ten core values.

The Instructional Aide will perform 1:1 support for a scholar with educational/emotional challenges and assist in the implementation of goals and services, as outlined in the Individualized Education Plan. This candidate will work closely with Special Education Team and the classroom teacher under a "Push In" or "Inclusion Model," consistent with the educational philosophy of the John Adams Academy and Federal guidelines.
The Candidate will possess the following:
*Minimum of 5 years experience in Special Education or related field.
*Knowledge of behavior interventions and ability to assist with academic instruction.
*Familiarity with IEP process and intervention tracking.
*Ability to follow specific instructions outlined in Behavior Support Plan.
*Ability to be consistent and firm while always assisting in a positive, upbeat manner.
*Ability to maintain documentation data and report to team regularly.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from high school.
Or
Complete two years of higher education study.
Or
Hold or obtain an Associate’s Degree
OR
Pass a formal state or local academic assessment that demonstrates knowledge of, and the ability to assist in teaching, reading, writing, and mathematics or reading, writing and mathematics readiness.
OR
Equivalent experience.
