About the Employer
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. The Educational Services Division is dedicated to supporting professional learning for Orange County school districts. Through the collective capacity, Educational Services provides high quality and sustainable professional learning that enhances the professional capital of the community we serve. We provide multi-tiered system of support to the Orange County community that focus on academic, behavioral, and social success for all learners through: Professional Learning, Technical Assistance, Tools and Resources. The Orange County Department of Education seeks an empathetic, human-centered leader to serve as Administrator, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This individual will oversee integrating AI technologies into PK-16 educational environments. The ideal candidate deeply understands stakeholders' needs, takes a collaborative approach, and possesses relevant experience. The primary objective is driving innovation by leveraging AI to enhance student engagement, personalization, and achievement. This leader will work closely with all stakeholders to integrate AI activities into existing curricula, ensuring relevance for diverse learners. Additional responsibilities include facilitating immersive design thinking workshops to equip teachers to effectively incorporate human-centered AI. The selected candidate will be a motivated, forward-thinking professional passionate about transforming education through a human-focused approach to AI. Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, education administration, behavior management or a related field • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible educational experience including (2) two years of administrative service in a public school setting. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • A valid California credential authorizing instruction or service in a public school program. • Must hold a valid Administrative Services Credential or be eligible to apply/enter into an Administrative Services Preliminary Intern Program.
