Job Summary
The job of Academic Coach - Lead is done for the purpose/s of assisting students individually and collectively in developing effective learning strategies to become self-directed learners; assisting in the supervision, testing, and instruction of students; leading academic coaches and providing direct academic support to students which directly supports learning. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: Lead. This job reports to CEO/Principal or Designee
Requirements / Qualifications
Education/Experience High School Diploma required. BA or AA Degree preferred OR Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester units with transcripts provided) OR Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction (CBEST - California Basic Educational Skills Test) Successful applicants should have: -The ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with students, staff, and parents. -The ability to be assertive in managing small groups of high school students. -The ability to perceive student's needs and develop positive relationships. -The ability to think quickly, show patience and initiative. Pre placement physical and FBI / DOJ background check required for this position.

MATH, HIGHER MATH, SCIENCE AND BILINGUAL (SPANISH) SKILLS A PLUS!
Cougar XL- A supportive, academic environment for students transitioning from middle school to Steele Canyon High School and beyond. This course is provided for targeted 9th-12th graders. Students are supported through a blended learning environment working with Academic Coaches who will provide academic support and mentoring, utilizing Achieve 3000 (reading comprehension), ALEKS (math skills), small group instruction and support during independent work time. Independent work is completed in an environment structured to allow students time and space to complete assignment and projects with support from Academic Coaches.
