San Luis Coastal Unified School District is seeking a new Payroll Specialist to join our team. Payroll Specialists at SLCUSD perform skilled and responsible clerical, record keeping, and computational duties related to processing and distributing District employee payrolls and benefits, and perform related duties as assigned. The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a vacancy in our Fiscal Services Department, and to establish an eligibility list for vacancies that may occur in the next six months. Start date is dependent upon fingerprint and TB clearance.
*As mentioned above, the pay range listed is based on an accelerated hiring rate. The initial offer will be dependent upon the candidate's number of years of equivalent experience in payroll or a closely related financial field. Other determining factors in placement may include coursework in payroll, finance, accounting, etc., and financial or payroll experience in a public agency.
This position is located in San Luis Obispo, at the SLCUSD District Office, Fiscal Services Department.
Candidates who successfully pass screening and have submitted all required documents will proceed to an exam, scheduled for September 21st, 2023. Confirmation of exam date and time, and additional details will be provided to candidates who are invited to move on in the process, after initial screening.
Candidates who pass the exam with a score of 70% or higher may be invited to oral board interviews, tentatively planned for the same date as the exam, September 21. Candidates must pass oral board interviews with a score of 70% or higher to be added to the eligibility list. The top three (3) ranked candidates after the exam and oral board interviews will be invited to a hiring interview, date TBD.
SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities must notify the Personnel Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard in time of war or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months.
