COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $76,771.00-$107,114.00 (2022/23 Faculty Salary Schedule); teaching experience, other related professional experience, and academic degrees determine salary placement on a schedule that is competitive with other California Community Colleges. Contracted salary is for 177 days per year (August through May) as specified in the All Faculty Association Contract, Article 8.

Santa Rosa Junior College is seeking an individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators to provide high-quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students. This is a full-time, regular contract position in the Child Development Department at Santa Rosa Junior College, beginning Spring Semester, January 2024. Appointments are contingent upon funding and Board approval.

Essential Functions
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Child Development and Teacher Education Department educates a diverse population of students based on a thorough understanding of child growth and development, as well as cultural influences. We educate students to work with young children and their families in a variety of roles and settings, including state-funded children's programs, private and public preschools, family child-care and public school programs. Classes in Child Development can lead to careers working directly or indirectly with children in related fields, such as psychology, social services, and pediatric health and elementary education
The SRJC Child Development and Teacher Education Department we value the whole. Child. We scaffold and prepare practitioners to promote and implement authentic practices in early care and education. We currently employ 4 full-time faculty and approximately 20 associate faculty. The Children's Center, which serves as both a lab school for our instructional program and as a pre-school/child care center for students, has 20 regular classified employees and serves approximately 100 children. We offer vocationally oriented courses and transferable courses that meet general education requirements in both the CSU and UC systems. Our department has a deep commitment to meeting the needs of our community through the improvement of quality early childhood education.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Child Development Department is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach courses in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, and our Teacher Education programs. In addition, this instructor will play a key role in the ongoing work of our department, including developing new courses, collaborating with our local early childhood community, supporting our diverse student population, and promoting apprenticeship, teacher preparation pathways, and lab school programs. This position also requires collaborating with other departments and community groups and participating in departmental and campus-wide committees.
SRJC offers courses at two campuses, located in Santa Rosa and Petaluma, as well as multiple satellite locations within the district, including on-line. While this assignment is for the Santa Rosa campus, please note the district reserves the right of assignment to any location, and that assignments could involve any combination of day or evening classes with weekly office hours being mandatory. Instructors assume responsibility for maintaining currency in the field, for updating existing courses and developing new curricula (including courses that serve community needs, such as short, non-credit, or online courses), assisting in the assessment of student learning outcomes, participating in department activities and other college service such as committee work, managing laboratories, and participating in community outreach on behalf of the college.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Master's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Human Development, Home Economics/Family and Consumer Studies with a specialization in Child Development/Early Childhood Education, Educational Psychology with a specialization in Child Development/Early Childhood Education; OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's Degree in Social Work, Educational Supervision, Elementary Education, Special Education, Psychology, Bilingual/Bicultural Education, Life Management/Home Economics, Family Life Studies, or Family and Consumer Studies; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Nursery School and Pre-school Education.
Preferred:
English/Spanish bilingual and biliteracy skills.
Multiple teacher cred

Requires a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
