Under the supervision of the Comprehensive Services Manager, the Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, hiring, onboarding and supervising on-call child development staff; as well as responsible for coverage placement at center base sites that serve children 6 months to 5 year olds. This position oversees the daily coverage plan, including the contingency coverage, to ensure all classrooms meet adult/child ratio requirements and childcare coverage for Parent Activities. The Staff Development Coordinator provides professional growth advising and guidance to education staff. Position is full-time, in-person, Exempt. Annual salary is $65,000 - $67,000 dependent on experience and education; pay differential for bilingual skills awarded upon qualification.

- Develop & implement On-Call recruitment plan, & maintain a healthy pool of on-call staff to meet coverage needs
- Timely & accurate follow up and tracking of documentation and information of new and potential On-Call hires
- Implements the Coverage Procedures including coverage placements, Contingency Coverage assignments supervision of On-call education staff
- Stay up-to-date with applicable Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) and CA licensing Regulations
- Implements the annual training plan, via collecting documentation related to training & professional development activities, such as attendance/participation
- Program Administrator for the program’s Learning Management System, ensuring accurate & timely data entry for Training attendance as part of the ongoing training plan
- Provide professional development support to on-call education staff by offering information, guidance, and advice about professional growth, career options, and pathways to obtain or meet required qualifications
- Supports staff in meeting state requirements to renew a CA Child Development Permit within the 5-year cycle, by approving Professional Growth Plans, in the role of Professional Growth Advisor
- Monitor, collect & present data on coverage usage, staffing trends, & staff professional development activities
- Coordinate child-care coverage for Parent Committee Meetings and Parent Activities
Requirements / Qualifications
• AA/AS in Early Childhood Education, Human Development or a related field (B.A. is preferred) • 3 + years’ experience directly supervising • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs – Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook • Flexibility in schedule required, includes regular evening, early morning and weekend work • Strong organization skills • Bilingual (Proficient in English/Spanish) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Must have strong leadership and communication skills, experience in conflict resolution • Ability to manage multiple tasks, successfully • Ability to work independently and within a team, successfully • Knowledge of the community and county resources?? Required Documents • Must be able to pass and maintain background check Criminal Record, Physical examination, and TB/IZ clearance before hire • Must have a valid Driver’s License, your own vehicle, valid vehicle insurance and good driving record • Flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends • Proof of citizenship or right to work in the United States
