Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print

The California Department of Education (CDE) is seeking a hard-working, enthusiastic professional to join its Assessment Development and Administration Division as an integral part of a team that supports educators in understanding and using the interim and formative assessment components of California’s statewide system of assessments. A significant portion of this job is dedicated to overseeing contract activities pertaining to the California Educator Reporting System (CERS)—a reporting system designed for California educators to access student results from statewide assessments.
We are looking for someone who is motivated, resourceful, and detail-oriented to support system development and outreach within our fast-paced team. Under the direct supervision of the Education Research and Evaluation Administrator I of the Interim and Formative Assessments Office, the incumbent for this position will:
• Monitor the work of large, complex contracts to ensure activities and deliverables meet scope of work requirements and CDE expectations. This includes tracking the status of contract activities and numerous concurrent contract deliverables to ensure completion within the agreed upon timeline.
• Coordinate the review of deliverables by staff across division offices and ensure all feedback is clearly communicated to the contractor. This includes evaluating and providing actionable feedback on a variety of contract deliverables such as system user interfaces, user guides, training presentations, and videos.
• Serve as the primary CDE liaison in CERS project meetings. This includes co-facilitating and maintaining an accurate record of meeting discussions.
• Coordinate CERS user acceptance testing by staff across division offices, and participate in user acceptance testing for various systems-related projects.
• Develop resources and present them formally and informally to support local educational agency staff understanding of California’s comprehensive system of assessments—particularly regarding state-offered interim assessments and the reporting of assessment results.
• Provide assessment program and system assistance to a variety of interest holders including local and state educational agency staff, education advocacy groups, and the general public.
• Develop content for contract scopes of work, budget change proposals, and State Board of Education items related to California’s statewide system of assessments.
This full-time position is largely remote-centered (i.e., work-from-home) and requires strong organization and time-management skills. In addition, this position requires excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse groups as well as the ability to work effectively independently.
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
• Experience with large-scale assessments and results reporting in education
• Knowledge of California education, assessment, and data reporting laws and regulations.
• Experience with web-based systems development
• Experience monitoring large contracts
• Strong computer skills in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
