Job Summary

Serves as educational leader and general administrator of a school. Responsible and accountable for the direction and effective performance of certificated and non certificated personnel serving the school on a permanent, part-time, and/or temporary basis. Through line organization procedures and management organization channels, participates in recommending district policies and regulations to the superintendent.

Requirements / Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS Credential: Possession of a standard administration credential or a credential of equivalent authorization issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is required. AND Education: A bachelor's degree from an approved institution is required. Advanced degrees are preferred. AND Experience: A minimum of five years of certificated experience in public or private schools is required, and preference will be given for additional elementary/middle school teaching experience, administrative, or supervisorial experience at the elementary/middle school level.

Sacramento City Unified seeks a principal to lead John Morse Therapeutic Center. John Morse Therapeutic Center is a small PK-8 school serving students who may be experiencing mental health and/or behavioral concerns and would benefit from a smaller therapeutic learning environment. John Morse is a caring community providing process and structure that enables students and families to make positive social, emotional, behavioral, and academic choices in progress towards becoming productive members of society. John Morse Therapeutic Center provides a more intensive and individualized program than those at comprehensive schools. The school addresses the individual learning, behavioral, and emotional needs of each student through small classroom sizes, specific behavior supports, focused collaboration with community service providers and direct services. The commitment of the students, staff and parents contributes to a culture of community engagement and continuous improvement throughout all domains. John Morse Therapeutic Center’s student body of 47 students reflects approximately: 27% representing Hispanic/Latino, 38% representing African American, 14% Asian and 23% representing White. Additionally, 87% of its students are from socio-economically disadvantaged households, 5% are English Learners, and 100% receive Special Education services. John Morse Therapeutic Center’s new principal will need to address areas of concern surrounding low performance in English Language Arts and Mathematics across several student.
