General Responsibilities: * Driving specific bus route(s) as assigned, including safety-checking bus before each run: ensuring orderly boarding, behavior conduct, and disembarking of students * Performing or ensuring that needed repairs are documented and forwarded to the transportation supervisor immediately *Driving activity routes as assigned *Tracking specific needs of users and making sure facilities, equipment, etc. are secured *Putting passenger safety paramount over all other duties *Other duties as assigned Requirements: Valid Class C license; spotless DMV and safety record, CPR and first aid certificates; experience working with school-age children Ability to: Enforce school rules and regulations to assure student compliance with school and Diocesan policies and regulations Interact and communicate with patience, tact, and good judgment and within established guidelines. Observe, monitor, and report on student behavior. Understand and carry out verbal and written directives. Working conditions: Ability to drive a school bus safely and efficiently in varying weather conditions.

San Joaquin Memorial High School is seeking a Bus Driver 25+ years old. $21.00/hr. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: • Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed below. Licenses and Other Requirements Valid unrestricted California Class A or B driver’s license with appropriate passenger and air brake endorsements. Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates issued by an authorized agency. Valid School Bus Operator’s Certificate issued by the California Highway Patrol. Valid medical card. Knowledge of: Safe and defensive driving practices. Proper operations of school buses. Applicable traffic and student transportation laws, codes, and regulations. Basic first aid procedures. Basic record-keeping techniques. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Health and safety regulations. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to: Drive a school bus safely and efficiently. Conduct safety inspections and perform routine preventive maintenance. Learn and apply policies and procedures related to student discipline on buses. Maintain a safe discipline level among passengers. Observe legal and defensive driving practices. Learn and follow designated routes. Maintain the bus in clean and proper working condition. Administer first aid. Maintain routine records. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Communicate effectively with others Meet schedules and timelines.
